#NewRules 100 km Mission Announced

Zwift just announced their newest mission, the NewRules 100km mission. This mission is used to celebrate the partnership of Zwift and the Paris Roubaix Femmes. The Tour de France Femmes begins 100 days from April 15th, the start day of the mission. The Paris Roubaix Femmes avec Zwift also begins tomorrow!

In order to sign up for this mission, you can join in the top left corner of your home screen(if you are on the old home screen). On the new home screen you will see a tile for the mission at the top of the home screen.

The goal of the mission is to ride 100km total in the next month(challenge ends on the 15th of May). If you complete the challenge, you will be entered to win a bike tour in France. There will be both 50 minute podcast rides and 45 minute “Get to Know a Pro” ride where former professional cyclist chat with current pros. Complete any of these rides to get the #NEWRULES socks and cap! For more information and a list of upcoming events, head over to this link: https://www.zwift.com/watchthefemmes

Zwift Gravel Mountain – What We Know So Far

In the latest Zwift Companion release, users have spotted the new map for the rumoured Gravel Mountain route. Here is what we know so far.

Based off of the time of release for the companion map, we assume it will be released into the real game in the next game release(next few days). Zwift has also said that they will be testing with select individuals(likely the members of the Zwift Focus group).

Knowing the name of the route, we know that this route will include a gravel climb(the entire route will most likely be gravel).

Looking at the route, I think that the road will likely be around 5 miles long, making it a good gravel crit circuit.

Zwift has also said that there will be new features releasing with this map eventually. Zwift also released a tweet that seems to show the gravel route…

This post will be updated as soon as more details are available.

April Fools Day 2022 Zwift

Update: The April Fool’s suprises have not gone live yet, which makes me think that these are going to be event only surprises, so that the riders who do not want to participate in the surpises don’t have to. It looks as though this year we will be riding with big heads! Take a look at the April Fool’s Day surprise!

It seems as though Zwift will be keeping this an event only feature for April Fool’s, so if you don’t want to participate, you don’t have to, but I gotta say it is lookin pretty cool! Currently you can only see this during the April Fool’s Day events. It is a bit disappointing to see that Zwift did not use a new surprise, as this was used back in 2017 for April Fool’s. It is still a great opportunity for riders who have not experienced this yet as the last time it was used was 5 years ago. Enjoy the surprise and stay tuned for a short video!

Zwift has started scheduling some April Fools Day rides for the 1st of April, which is coming up in just two days! Here is what I think Zwift could be planning for this year.

1. Trike bikes

I think that is it very possible that Zwift might bring back the Trike bikes for the second year in a row. Zwift hasn’t been putting a ton of effort into these small things, there was no holiday kit in December, and no new years day hats on the new years. This has been pretty disappointing for me and many other Zwifters.

2. Mix of previous years

In previous years Zwift has done a paper boy themed day and a retro day, maybe we could see a mix of the previous years? (Maybe different years for each world).

3. Something completely different

I am very excited to see what Zwift has up their sleeves this year. As soon as the April Fool’s days tricks go live, I will have screenshots up ASAP. I will also update this post with a video of the April Fool’s day shenanigans with the first April Fool’s day ride.

Zwift’s decription for the event simply reads “It’s Watopia’s favorite hijinx filled holiday, April Fools’ Day! This year we’re celebrating all day long with social rides, group runs and chase races. Join the extravaganza and take a trip around Watopia’s popular Flat Route.” This means that we will definitely be getting some April fools day fun, but I don’t doubt that it could very well be the trike bikes again.

Zwift will also be hosting social rides throughout the day, group runs, and chase races. Social rides, chase races, and group runs will be taking place every hour starting at 5:20 pm PDT. The group rides will last for 40 minutes while the group runs will be 30 minutes. The chase races will be on one lap of Wandering Flats. Category enforcement will be used for these races. Zwift Adds Wahoo Direct Connect Support

Zwift has just announced that they have added Direct Connect Support for Wahoo. This is a feature request from over a year back when the direct connect was first released, so many Zwifters are loving that it was finally released. This update does not require a game update, as it is a client based change. Once you log on and have this set up, you will be able to access this feature.

Currently iOS, Apple TV, Android, and Mac have access to this feature, PC will be added in a later update. I am not super familiar with this feature as I don’t own a Wahoo Kickr, so for a in depth article, head over to Zwift Insider: https://zwiftinsider.com/wahoo-direct-connect-released/

Zwift to Test Dynamic Pace Partners

Earlier today, Zwift put up a post on the forums saying that they will be testing dynamic pace partners. This is a pretty big feature request, so it is good to see Zwift making some progress on this. Dynamic pace partners: Having the pace partners change speed based on the gradient(harder on climbs, easier on flats/downhill). The goal of dynamic pace partners is to make a more realistic ride, this change will make pace partner riding closer to a real riding style.

The first test will be on the 28th of March. The C pace partner will start using the dynamic pace parter feature. Her pace will now be 2.7 on inclines and 2.5 on flats/downhills. This test will only be for C Cadence, but if it goes well, other pace partners will eventually be enabled.

Zwift has provided a forums thread for feedback once Zwift releases this: https://forums.zwift.com/t/pace-partner-dynamic-pace-testing-march-2022/581351.
