Zwift Wandering Flats Details

This is one of the longer routes, and one of the only routes that is in both Neokyo and Yumezi. The route has not much climbing, but there is one small climb at the end of route. The route begins in Yumezi, then goes through the contryside to the Neokyo tunnel. On the way there, you’ll take on the country sprint reverse. You will then go through the tower sprint and alley sprint before coming back to Yumezi. The route ends at the Yumezi lap banner. The best bike for this route is the fastest bike for rolling/flat roads.

Zwift Temples and Towers Details

This route is one of the longest routes that was included in this update. This route is just barely 20 miles long with quite a bit of climbing. If you are not racing this route, I would recommend a bike change at the Temple KOM as it is a pretty long climb with quite a bit of dirt. If not, I would go with an all arounder set up. This route first goes through the Rooftop climb in Neokyo. You will then go through the tunnel connecting to Yumezi. You will first ascend the castle KOM, then go up the Temple KOM. Once you crest the climb and enjoy the nice descent, you will head back to the Neokyo lap banner.

This route is one of the rolling hill routes that was included in this update. This route is around 8 miles long, so around a 20-30 minute long route. This route goes through all four of the sprints, and is fairly flat. The route begins in the arcade paddocks, you will then make your way to the first sprint. Just around a mile in, you will hit the first sprint, Tower sprint reverse. Then you will head to the Castle park sprint around 1.5 miles in. At around 3 miles in, you will hit the third sprint, this is the alley sprint. The last sprint is the railway sprint. The rest of the route is fairly flat. The route ends at the Neo arcade lap banner area. The fastest bike for this route is going to be the Cervelo S5 2020 with the DT Swiss Disc.

Zwift Sleepless City Details

This route is one of the shorter routes that was included in the Neokyo release. This route is pretty flat, The route begins Neo Arcade, goes through Neokyo Center, and then onto the Castle park road. There are a few bumps here and there, but other than that, the route is pan flat. This route goes through one sprint, the Castle Park Sprint. I would recommend using the Cervelo S5 2020 and the DT Swiss Disc, as it is the fastest set up in Zwift.

Zwift Rooftop Rendezvous Details

This route is the shortest route in all of Makuri Islands. This route was included in the Neokyo Makuri Islands expansion. The route will go up the Rooftop KOM, then enjoy a nice decent back down to the Neo Arcade. This route makes for a great short punchy crit course. I would recommend using the Scott Addict RC with some good all arounder wheels.

Zwift Railways and Rooftops Details

This route is one of the shorter routes that was included in the Neokyo release. This route is pretty flat, but does go through a small hill towards the end. This route begins at the lap banner, then you will go through the Railway Sprint, Neokyo’s longest sprint. The route is pretty twisty and turny for the rest of the route, and once you reach the top, you will have a short decent to the finish. I would recommend using the Scott Addict RC and the DT Swiss Disc, as the frame will give you an advantage on the climbs, while not losing too much on the flats/decent.

The route begins near the Arcade paddocks and follows along the flat roads, the route will then go through the Makuri Tower during the Tower Sprint. The route will then go through the Alley sprint, and make its way to the Castle Park Sprint. You’ll do the sprint twice, then make your way to the Neo Arcade to the finish line. The best bike for this route is going to the most aerodynamic bike you have, or your fastest bike on flats.

Zwift Neokyo All Nighter Details

This route was introduced in the Zwift Neokyo expansion that will be included in the 1.19 update, dropping tomorrow. For an article with everything I know so far about Neokyo, head over here. This route is one of the longer routes in Neokyo, and covers almost all of the roads in Neokyo(All except the tunnel that attaches Neokyo to Yumezi, if you count that). The route is relatively flat, with one KOM towards the end of the route. The KOM is likely around the length of the the Watopia KOM Reverse. This route goes through 4 sprints and one KOM. The route first goes through the Castle park sprint, which is around 15-20 seconds long sprinting. Then you will go through the Alley Sprint, which takes around 25-30 seconds if you are sprinting. You will then go through the castle park sprint again. The final sprint will be the Tower sprint, which is closer to 30 seconds long, depending on how hard you go. The route will peak at the Rooftop K/QOM, and then downhill to the finish.

Zwift Crit City Details

Crit City was introduced a few years back as an event only world. This world includes around 1.2 miles of roads. Crit City only contains two routes, Downtown Dolphin, and the Bell Lap. There is one lap banner and one KOM banner in the world, and it is relatively flat.

Downtown Dolphin

Downtown dolphin is the exact same route as Bell Lap, just the reverse version. Downtown dolphin takes the steep way up the KOM, which takes around 15-20 seconds to ascend. Many riders try and attack on the KOM, but rarely make it to the finish solo. The route starts at the lap banner, then goes through some flat roads. The KOM is completely cobbles when going in this direction. the downhill is only a slight downhill, which leads into rolling hills that normally go pretty quick. The route finishing on a short flat straightaway. Typically the race is around 8 laps long, but can be up to 24 laps. The best bike for this route is the fastest bike, most aerodynamic bike you have, as most of the route is flat.

Bell Lap

The bell lap is just the reverse version of downtown dolphin, and usually takes a few seconds longer than downtown dolphin. This route tackles the rollers first, then takes on the KOM, which is pretty short and around 1-2% average grade. The route then goes on the cobbled downhill, the rest of the route was flat. Just like downtown dolphin, the best bike is your fastest most aerodynamic bike.

Zwift Chain Chomper Details

Overview

Yumezi’s Chain Chomper route was introduced in the initial Yumezi launch. This was one of the 8 orginal routes in the growing Makuri Islands. This route is one of the hillier routes of the routes available. This route goes through a few of the villages, then makes its way up the Castle KOM. You will then continue to ascend up the Temple KOM Reverse, which is around a mile with an average gradient of 3.6%. The Temple KOM is an all dirt climb, so if you are just free riding it, or racing, I would recommend a gravel bike or mountain bike for the climb section. The best bike is likely one of the gravel bikes, to read more about the fastest gravel bikes, head over to this Zwift insider article: https://zwiftinsider.com/gravel-bike-results/. Once you crest the short climb, you will have a short downhill, which will lead back to the start of the course, the country sprint.
